The Q38/48/Q58 series chain-type shot blasting machines are available in continuous, step-by-step, and accumulation modes. These machines are suitable for surface cleaning and shot blasting of a wide variety of large-volume castings, including iron castings, steel castings, forgings, and steel structures. These machines are particularly effective for cleaning engine cylinder heads, motor housings, wheels, and steel cylinders. They are ideal for the automotive, tractor, diesel engine, motor, and valve industries.
Continuous
In the continuous process, workpieces are suspended from chain hooks and continuously cycle through the shot blasting chamber at a constant speed. Once in the cleaning chamber, a rotating mechanism drives the workpieces, rotating them as they move forward and are cleaned.
Step-by-step method
The step-by-step method groups the workpiece suspension hooks into groups (usually 2-3 hooks per group, the number of groups depending on the customer's frequency of operation and the length of the cleaning line). The operating sequence is loading - waiting - shot blasting (rotation) - waiting - unloading - waiting - loading, in a continuous cycle.
Accumulation and Release Method
The accumulation and release method places an empty trolley at a fixed point in the workpiece loading area, awaiting loading. After loading is complete, a stopper automatically releases the trolley. The trolley then moves to the front of the shot blasting chamber and enters a waiting state, while workpieces hoisted by a group of trolleys in the shot blasting chamber are being shot blasted. When a trolley in the shot blasting chamber completes shot blasting and leaves the chamber, the stopper in the waiting area automatically releases the trolley, and the trolley enters the shot blasting phase. Simultaneously, the next trolley waits. When the workpiece on that trolley is finished cleaning, it automatically moves to the waiting area to await unloading. This continuous cycle continues.
▶ Product Structure
Catenary Conveyor System
The catenary conveyor system is a key component of the shot blasting machine. It uses chains to suspend the workpiece, ensuring smooth movement during the cleaning process. The conveyor system uses a drive to transport the workpiece along a predetermined path into the cleaning area. The workpiece automatically rotates during transport, ensuring that all parts are evenly exposed to the shot blasting.
Shot Blaster
The shot blaster is the core operating unit of the machine. Its high-speed impeller accelerates and ejects steel shot and other particulate matter onto the workpiece surface. The number and angle of the shot blasters can be flexibly adjusted based on the workpiece shape and cleaning requirements, ensuring uniform cleaning of every workpiece surface. Using multiple shot blasters effectively increases cleaning speed and shortens production cycle times.
Steel Shot Recovery System
During the cleaning process, some steel shot is consumed. An efficient steel shot recovery system recovers, filters, cleans, and returns the used steel shot to the storage bin for reuse. This recovery system not only reduces steel shot consumption but also reduces waste and environmental pollution.
Cleaning Chamber
The cleaning chamber is the area where the workpiece and shot come into contact. It is typically sealed to minimize shot dispersion and to concentrate impurities on the workpiece surface. Made of wear-resistant materials, the cleaning chamber can withstand high impacts and effectively minimize equipment wear.
Electrical Control System
The catenary-type shot blasting machine is equipped with an intelligent electrical control system. The operator can easily adjust operating parameters such as shot wheel speed, shot flow rate, and conveyor speed through a control panel. The electrical control system also features automated monitoring, fault alarms, and data logging to ensure efficient and stable operation.
Dust Removal System
The dust removal system removes dust generated during the shot blasting process, ensuring a clean environment inside the machine and in the working environment. The dust removal system uses efficient filtration devices to quickly filter out dust, ensuring long-term stable operation and meeting environmental requirements.
▶ Advantages
Efficient Cleaning
The catenary-type shot blasting machine uses high-speed rotating shot wheels to quickly and evenly remove impurities such as oxides, rust, and oil from workpiece surfaces. This uniform and thorough cleaning process significantly improves production efficiency.
High Adaptability
This machine is suitable for workpieces of various sizes and shapes, and is particularly well-suited for cleaning large-scale metal parts such as castings, forgings, and steel structures. The catenary conveyor system can be adjusted according to the size and weight of the workpiece, ensuring that every workpiece is effectively cleaned.
Energy Saving and Environmental Protection
The machine's steel shot recovery system recycles steel shot, reducing steel shot consumption and conserving raw materials. Furthermore, the dust removal system effectively removes dust generated during the shot blasting process, minimizing environmental pollution and meeting modern environmental standards.
High Degree of Automation
The catenary-type shot blasting machine is equipped with an advanced electrical control system for easy operation, enabling fully automatic control and reducing manual intervention. Automated operation not only improves production efficiency but also reduces the possibility of human error. Improve Workpiece Quality
Shot blasting creates a uniform surface roughness on the workpiece, enhancing coating adhesion and improving fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance. These factors significantly improve workpiece quality and service life.
Reduced Labor Costs
The catenary-type shot blasting machine features a high degree of automation, reducing reliance on manual labor. During operation, operators are primarily responsible for monitoring and maintenance, significantly reducing labor costs and improving production efficiency.
Extended Equipment Service Life
Thanks to its vibration-free design and the use of wear-resistant materials in the catenary conveyor system and cleaning chamber, the machine can withstand long-term, high-intensity operation, reducing wear and failures and extending its service life.

▶ FAQ
What workpieces are suitable for cleaning with a catenary-type shot blasting machine?
Catenary-type shot blasting machines are particularly suitable for cleaning small, medium, and large metal workpieces, such as castings, forgings, steel structures, and mechanical parts. Due to the catenary system's adaptability, it can handle workpieces of various sizes and shapes, making it particularly well-suited for cleaning tasks in mass production.
How can I improve the cleaning performance of a catenary-type shot blasting machine?
The key to improving cleaning performance is to properly adjust the shot blasting wheel speed, shot flow rate, and workpiece transport speed. Additionally, regularly inspecting and cleaning the shot recovery system to maintain efficient shot recycling can also effectively improve cleaning performance.
What is the maintenance cycle for a catenary-type shot blasting machine?
The maintenance cycle for a catenary-type shot blasting machine generally depends on the frequency of use and operating environment. It is recommended to inspect the main components of the machine, such as the shot blasting wheel, conveyor system, and recovery system, monthly, and perform a comprehensive maintenance every three months to lubricate, clean, and replace worn parts to ensure long-term, efficient, and stable operation.
